Age Sector Platform (ASP) supports the older person’s right to live free from fear of crime within their home and community. We recognise that fear of crime can have a serious impact on the lives of older people in Northern Ireland and can cause social isolation.

In 2006, almost half of people aged 65 and over said they were more fearful of being a victim of crime than they were the previous year. This statistic reveals how current government measures are failing older people and highlights the need for older people to become involved in implementing a co-ordinated community safety strategy in Northern Ireland.
Age Sector Platform aims to:
- Secure a Community Safety Strategy for Older People
- Ensure the voice of older people is heard during the development and implementation of community safety plans
- Seek long term funding for schemes that help tackle the fear of
- crime among older people.
